Built for Orient Express passengers and opened in 1895 to a design by Alexander Vallaury, Pera Palace Hotel in Tepebaşı was the first hotel in Istanbul with electricity and an electric lift; restored between 2006 and 2010, it has 115 rooms and 16 suites, the Kubbeli Saloon, Orient Bar and Patisserie de Pera, a spa with a pool, and the Atatürk museum room 101.
